It's all about payback now that Nikolas Cassadine is back on General Hospital, and portrayer Marcus Coloma says that playing the Prince of Darkness is devilishly fun.

General Hospital's Nikolas Cassadine has risen from the dead, and viewers won't be able to help but notice that the resurrected version of the character retains some shadows from the grave. Marcus Coloma is now in the role of the Cassadine Prince, and the actor teases that the writers have definitely been focusing on the character's dark side.

"There's such a Shakespearean feel to GH, which I love," the actor tells Soaps In Depth. "Hamlet's fatal flaw was he didn't act, and I think Nikolas's fatal flaw was similar. He struggled with his conscience, and as a result, here was this very evil, corrupt man [in Valentin] who was basically threatening his entire world."

In the years that Nikolas has been gone, Coloma says the character "has really changed significantly." But just how deep into the depths of darkness will viewers see Nikolas go?

"That's such a good question, and that will absolutely be revealed," the actor teases. "I will tell you that Nikolas is definitely focused on payback... and as an actor, I'm looking for conflict!"
